Shogun Fighters that we would love to see in UFC Main Cards

The UFC is one of the most popular sports in the world. Mixed martial arts (MMA) has grown in popularity over the last few years, and the UFC is the biggest organization in the sport. The fighters in the UFC are some of the best athletes in the world.

However, fans of MMA will also be quick to point out that there are a number of other promotions within the sport that continue to regularly produce some of the best combat fights that can continually be watched, with the Shogun Fights promotion being just one of those.

In this blog post, we will take a look at some of the best Shogun Fighters and discuss which ones would make great additions to future UFC main cards.

What are Shogun Fights?

Shogun Fights is a Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) organization that was founded in 2009. The company is based in Baltimore, Maryland, United States. Shogun Fights has held numerous events over the years and has recently returned to providing some interesting bouts that fans can capture.

For instance, we recently were able to witness Shogun Fights 24 at The Hall at Live! Casino Hotel Maryland in Hanover, Maryland on Saturday, March 26, 2022, with a total of nine fights taking place on the card. It was the first fight card to have happened since The Jonathan Ogden Foundation: Charity MMA Event took place on Thursday, November 14, 2019.

As we know, the UFC is the biggest MMA organization in the world and it features some of the best fighters in the sport. The UFC has several different weight classes, and each weight class has a champion. The UFC also has interim champions, which are fighters who are considered to be the second-best fighter in a particular weight class.

Why is Shogun Fights so good?

Shogun Fights is a great MMA organization because it features some of the best fighters in the world. The promotion has a good mix of different weight classes, and each weight class has a champion. Indeed, all you have to do is to take a look at the most recent fight card to gain a true understanding of just how good the organization is.

  • Bryan McDowell defeated Micah Terrill
  • Max Gimenis defeated Robert Coleman
  • Shawn Suser defeated Jeffrey Glossner
  • Jerome Featherstone defeated Stephen Moleski
  • Patrick Rivera defeated Shawn Brooks
  • Tyshawn Williams defeated Marcus Sims
  • Robert Sullivan defeated Raymond Yanez
  • Albert McCowin defeated Maik Ferrante
  • Joshua Francis defeated Kevin Fulmore

There were a number of surprises on the night, with many having found it difficult to predict that McDowell would be able to walk away from the bout with the SF Welterweight Championship, however he managed to do that after securing a rear-naked choke submission hold on his opponent Micah Terrell in Round 2 of the 3 scheduled.

Given that shock, there may have been some who would have been betting on the event that may have found it incredibly surprising that the American was able to claim the gold.

Indeed, with bettors being able to bet on sports anywhere in Maryland, this event will have likely had a significant amount of interest from those in the northeast of the country as fans will have wanted to get in on the action given that they had the opportunity to.

With a couple of top fighters to have appeared on the bill, there will have been some fans that will have managed to place a bet on individuals that they feel could potentially make a name for themselves within the UFC in the near future, too, thus perhaps giving them an early look at a potentially new emerging star within the sport of MMA.

Who would we like to see in the UFC in the future from Shogun Fights?

Naturally, there are a few Shogun Fighters that we would love to see in the UFC in the future if you have been keeping up with the latest news, especially if you take what had happened in the recent Shogun Fights 24 fight card into account, too.

Max Gimenis

One man that we would like to see in the UFC in the future would have to be Max Gimenis, with the Brazilian having looked very impressive against Robert Coleman in his debut fight. The South American is a Maryland native, and the 29-year-old looks to be a skilled heavyweight within the cage.

He managed to make Coleman submit within the first round of their bout, which is an impressive way to begin his MMA record after being an experienced grappler. Of course, it would be wise to see how he performs in other contests first, but perhaps the UFC could be in his sight?

Shawn Suser

Another impressive Shogun Fighter from the recent card to have taken place is Shawn Suser, as the American-Filipino managed to extend his unbeaten record to 3-0-0 after defeating Jeffrey Glossner via submission with a guillotine choke in the first round of their contest. Glossner is an experienced MMA fighter, which makes the victory for Suser all the more impressive, which is why we would love to see him in the UFC in the future.

The 26-year-old is undefeated across both professional and amateur bouts, thus making his career path appear to be rather exciting to watch. Hopefully, we will get to see him in the big time in the near future!

What about Bryan McDowell?

While McDowell may have managed to capture the SF Welterweight Championship at Shogun Fights 24, it would be rather difficult to see him in the UFC in the future. There is no denying that the 27-year-old American is talented, but his form and his fight record are very mixed. This could make it rather difficult to see him appear in the UFC in the future, as inconsistency may cost him a place.

Final Thoughts

So, there you have it! These are just some of the fighters that we would like to see compete in the UFC in the future, although there is undoubtedly a very long way for each of them to go if they are to reach the pinnacle of the sport of MMA.
