Eko Roni Saputra Steps In To Face Hu Yong At ONE Fight Night 15

Eko Roni Saputra is eager to right the wrongs of his last outing, and he’ll get a chance to start doing so when he fills in to face Chinese star Hu Yong at ONE Fight Night 15 on Saturday, 7th October.

The Indonesian star replaces #2-ranked Danny Kingad in the flyweight tilt, who he came came up short against this past February at ONE Fight Night 7.

Before his last outing, Saputra had accumulated an incredible seven-fight streak of wins in ONE’s flyweight division, which included victories over impressive names like Yodkaikaew Fairtex, Ramon Gonzales, and Chan Rothana.

However, that all ended when Kingad bested him over the course of three rounds inside Bangkok, Thailand’s Lumpinee Boxing Stadium.

The Indonesian wrestling standout will relish the opportunity to get back to winning ways in October, but Hu Yong will be no easy adversary.

With a record of 11-4, the Chinese phenom has been quietly amassing wins in the world’s largest martial arts organization, and his striking prowess is something to fear.

He used it to devastating effect in his one-round dismantling of former flyweight king Geje Eustaquio at ONE 164 last December, and it was the catalyst for his split-decision victory over South Korean dynamo Woo Sung Hoon this past June.

If Hu can gather a third straight win over a talent like Saputra, it will catapult him into the upper echelon of flyweight contenders.

A victory for either man is pivotal at this stage of their careers, though. With such fine margins at the top of the stacked flyweight division, fans can expect them both to be on top form at ONE Fight Night 15.
