State Farm Stadium was previously known as the University of Phoenix Stadium until 2018, when State Farm took over sponsorship. The stadium has hosted two Super Bowls, with a third on the horizon. College football also hosts the Fiesta Bowl and College Football Playoff (CFP) games at State Farm Stadium. The stadium opened in 2006 and offers unobstructed views for 63,400 fans, with the ability to increase that to 73,000 for mega-events.

In addition to Arizona Cardinals games, State Farm Stadium hosts events such as music concerts and Monster Jam. You can also buy tickets for a Behind the Scenes Tour most days of the week, as long as there isn’t an event planned for that date.

Here are three reasons to go to an event at State Farm Stadium.

1. Premium Seating Options

You can enjoy premium seating options at State Farm Stadium, such as club cabanas, field boxes, party lofts, and private lofts. In 2017, State Farm Stadium added the 50 East & 50 West Loft for the most exclusive and ultimate experience, located on the 50-yard line at Club level. Amenities include access to Club Level lounges, parking passes, a merchandise discount, pre-game field passes, food and beverage credit, and concierge services.

2. Retractable Playing Field

The first-ever retractable playing field is found at State Farm Stadium. With a push of a button, the entire field can move in or out of the stadium in about 70 minutes. The field is contained in a 234-foot by 403-foot tray that’s 40 inches deep. It rolls on 546 steel wheels located on 13 railroad-like tracks. The retractable playing field provides a traditional grass experience for sporting events, while retaining access to the stadium floor for concerts and other events. When parked outside, the tray receives plenty of nourishment and sunshine in the desert sun.

3. Retractable Roof

Watching a game in the Arizona sun in September used to be unbearable. When the Cardinals played at Sun Devil Stadium, keeping the stadium under 100 degrees during the day was challenging, so the Cards either started off each season with three away games or played after dark.

State Farm Stadium solved this issue by installing a retractable roof that operates via a 480-horsepower system that moves the two roof panels while maintaining control as they move. The roof is made of translucent Bird-Air fabric on steel rails, with eight cable drums responsible for moving each panel. The cable drums operate on four 7.5 horsepower motors that wind the 1.5-inch cable up.

State Farm Stadium has much to offer, whether you’re attending Monster Jam, a rock concert, or an Arizona Cardinals home game. You can enjoy a variety of cuisines via various vendors at any event.
