Max Holloway vs Frankie Edgar set for UFC 218

UFC 218 finally has a main event.

The UFC’s return to Detroit will see featherweight champion Max Holloway look to make the first defence of his featherweight title against former lightweight champion Frankie Edgar. The UFC confirmed the news to Brett Okamoto of ESPN this evening.

Holloway is coming off an impressive third-round finish of Jose Aldo back at UFC 212 in June. Prior to that, he defeated the former lightweight champion Anthony Pettis to claim the interim belt at UFC 206 in Toronto, Canada.

Edgar is coming in after derailing highly touted prospect Yair Rodriguez back at UFC 211. Edgar lost a unanimous decision to former champion Jose Aldo at UFC 200 in July 2016.
