Ed Arthur ahead of BAMMA 20 title bout with Philpott: “People are in for a shock!”

BAMMA 20 takes place this weekend at the BarclayCard Arena in Birmingham and one of the potential fight of the the night match ups is undoubtedly the Bantamweight World title tilt between Ed Arthur and Alan Philpott.

Ed Arthur is on a roll at BAMMA, the undefeated bantamweight has racked up three straight wins in the BAMMA cage, all stoppages. This is impressive enough but when you consider the talent that he has beaten in those fights, including Nathaniel Wood and Mike Cutting it becomes even more impressive.

Arthur is now the highly touted prospect on the cusp of becoming a World Champion as he battles the experienced and dangerous Alan Philpott for the BAMMA Bantamweight Champion at BAMMA 20 in Birmingham this weekend. But even with the gold on the line Arthur is looking to impress again with another stoppage.

“The finish is what gets you further in this game. A points win is like one step forward, a finish is like two steps forward. But I will let it happen naturally. If the finish doesn’t come I’m not going to force it! I do predict a second round KO/TKO. My game is almost unrecognisable since my last BAMMA fight! People are in for a shock!”

Arthur is well know for his controlled aggression in fights, a formula that has served him well in past performances and he sees no reason to change that part of his game too much.

“Calm, calculated pressure from the bell, I never get tired so I can push the pace, and my game plan, as always, hands up, chin down and let the fight take its course. The finish will come when it wants to. I know I come to fight every single time! I don’t play that tit for tat bullshit fighting I see loads of guys doing. I’m coming to battle from the opening bell, and this time I’ll be going home with the belt!’
