McGregor: It’s so good to be back on my feet

Conor McGregor spoke to Adam Glyn on Monday morning while the Dublin man was leaving his hotel in New York City. The UFC lightweight provided an update on his recovery on the horrific leg break which happened at UFC 264 when he took on rival Dustin Poirier.

“I feel good now I’m back on the feet. I honestly feel like I can kick right now but I’ve got to listen to the doctors. I’ve just got to listen to the people who are guiding me. That’s what I’ve done so far, I’ve committed myself to the work and it’s so good to be back on my feet.”

“I didn’t see my children for this training camp”, McGregor stated. “So when I left my son I was able to do jumping 360 flips and then the next time he sees me I’m sitting in a seat and I can’t walk. That was kind of playing on me a bit.”

“As the weeks are going by in recovery, I’m getting better and I’m getting stronger. My son is going to see the work that I have put in, he’s going to see the rewards and I know that is going to rub off well on him. He’s going to be able to see his father get back to his feet.”

The Dublin man went on to share how difficult and unique the recovery process has been for him. “I was upset for a little while. It has not been easy, there has been a few ups and downs on this journey. It’s probably one of the wildest things that has ever happened to me. It’s not been smooth sailing but I’ve got through it. I’ve had my family and my close team by my side and we’re getting there.”

“Still a long way to go, I don’t want to get too ahead of myself. Like I said, I could kick right now but I’m not advised to kick yet but I’m going to get back man. Do you think a broken leg is going to stop me? Think again.”

The former double champion also went on to talk about his experience at the MTV Video Music Awards and a certain incident with Machine Gun Kelly. McGregor, who is the highest paid athlete in the world, also spoke about a potential move to Hollywood, and into acting somewhere down the line.
