Paul Hughes vs. Jan Quaeyhaegens set for Cage Warriors 161

Paul Hughes will strap on the famous yellow gloves once more. Cage Warriors have confirmed that Hughes will take on Jan Quaeyhaegens at Cage Warriors 161, which takes place in the RDS, Dublin on Saturday, October 14th.

After a slew of Irish signings to the UFC Hughes seemed to be left out in the cold, which left many people questioning what’s next for the Fight Academy Ireland man. Hughes, who is currently the Cage Warriors featherweight champion, will move up to lightweight to take on standup specialist, Jan Quaeyhaegens. The fight has been labelled a #1 contender bout for George Hardwick’s lightweight title.

The Derry man was last seen in November 2022 when he picked up the featherweight title with a resounding win over Jordan Vucenic and Hughes has other notable wins over Morgan Charriere, James Hendin and Aidan Stephens at 145 pounds.

Jan Quaeyhaegens, who fights out of Belgium, has picked up 8 of his 11 wins by knockout and has amassed an impressive 4-1 record under the Cage Warriors banner. His last three win have come by way of knockout over Kevin Lister, Erik da Silva and Alberto Carlos.

Tickets for Cage Warriors 161: Dublin are available from CageWarriors.com. The event will be broadcast live via UFC Fight Pass and international broadcast partners.
