Cage Legacy 15 Full Card & Preview

Cage Legacy will host their first show of 2022 this weekend on Saturday, April 9. The event is set to take place at Kilnamanagh Sports Centre and boasts a card filled with amateur title fights topped off by the highly anticipated pro debut of Shauna Bannon.

After returning to competition in July of 2021 Shauna Bannon went on an absolute tear. She took on all comers, fighting at Flyweight and Bantamweight in the space of a month. This was swiftly followed by a dominant showing at the IMMAF World Cup in Prague, where she took gold. Bannon rounded off the year and her amateur career by winning the Cage Legacy Flyweight belt against Shanelle Dyer in the Main Event of Cage Legacy 14.

The 2021 Severe MMA Amateur Fighter of the Year is now looking to make waves in the pro scene at Cage Legacy 15 where she faces Kerry Isom (1-1). Isom had a tough start to life as a pro, coming up against Dakota Ditcheva, however, bounced back with a huge win over a highly-touted Levi Steedman.

Outside of Main Event, Troy Gibson and Jordan O’Neill will battle it out for the amateur Light-Heavyweight strap. O’Neill has been moving between three weight classes (MW, LHW & HW) as of late, winning titles in each. Meanwhile, Troy Gibson has been making waves at Welterweight and is set to make the 35lb jump up to Light Heavyweight for this one. This could be the last time we see either fighter in a set of 7oz gloves and it is not one to be missed.

In the Bantamweight division, Gary Rooney and Matthew Friel are set to rematch following their bout at Chaos FC 19. The fight is a dream for fans of grappling, however, there were some solid exchanges between the pair in their last outing that ended in a Split Decision win for Rooney. This is set to be the SBG HQ/Flats Jiu-Jitsu fighter’s fourth fight in as many months. Friel, on the other hand, is making his second appearance of the year and will be looking to snap his current losing streak.

The remaining two title fights on the Main Card will see a new Lightweight and Interim Featherweight Champion crowned. Someone’s 0 will have to go in the fight between Mario Ditofano and Nathan Brennan for the 155lb strap. Shane Mullen and Alex Josan will be looking to win the interim belt and set up a unification fight with Lewis Byrne, who will be watching this fight closely after winning the belt back at Cage Legacy 14.

Tickets for the event are now sold out but a PPV is available here. The full fight card for Cage Legacy 15 is as follows.
