Darragh Kelly on Bellator 270 Pro Debut: “I see a finish whatever way it presents itself”

Darragh Kelly (0-0) will make the walk this Friday as he makes his professional Mixed Martial Arts debut against Junior Morgan (3-0) at Bellator 270. The ‘2020 SevereMMA Amateur of the Year’ is set to compete in front of a capacity audience on Friday November 5th in the 3Arena in Dublin. The Donegal man spoke to SevereMMA about his excitement about competing on such a big stage.

“I’m excited to make my debut on such a massive card”, said the SBG featherweight. “I came to every Bellator Dublin card in the past as a fan and feel very grateful to be part of it all now.”

Kelly will make his debut after a massively impressive amateur career which started in 2017. During his spell in the amatuer ranks Darragh picked up 9 wins and an even more impressive stat of nine finishes. Kelly picked up titles at
Akuma Fighting Championship and Clan Wars along the way. The newly signed Bellator featherweight is confident in bringing that finishing ratio over to the pro ranks. His opponent standing across the cage will be UK based fighter Junior Morgan who is undefeated after three professional fights.

“I’m a finisher and I have no intentions of changing that now. I’ll have more time to get the finish at pro. I think Morgan is long and rangey and may be hard to close distance on. He has good striking but I think I’ll be to much for him physically. Eventually Junior Morgan will break. I see a first or second round finish whatever way it presents itself.”

Bellator 270 takes place this Friday, November 5th at the 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland. The event will be headlined by a Lightweight World Title fight between SBG’s Peter Queally (13-5-1) and Brazilian veteran Patricky Pitbull. It will be a rematch from the first encounter which took place at Bellator 358. The co-main event is a mouth watering affair between James Gallagher and #3 ranked bantamweight Patchy Mix in what could very well be a title eliminator fight. Danni Neilan (4-0) is set to take on Audrey Kerouche (7-5) in the strawweight division. Stephen Costello (0-0) will be in action with fellow debutant Yusuf Nazokatov at 170-pounds. Ciaran Clarke (3-0) is set to headline the prelims section of the card as he faces off against Jordan Barton (6-1-1) in the featherweight division.
