This Weekend’s Warriors: Clan Wars 38

This Weekend’s Warriors is a weekly column brought to you by SevereMMA that previews the upcoming Irish MMA action, shining a light on Ireland-based pro MMA fighters competing around the globe on any given week.

Irish MMA receives a much-needed boost this week as Clan Wars returns on Sunday afternoon. With the COVID-19 pandemic leaving Ireland barren of MMA action for the vast majority of 2020, there will be a plethora of domestic talent showcased at Clan Wars 38, a behind-closed-doors event.

The main event sees Kombat Jiu Jitsu’s Steve Coll (5-5) welcome SBG Charlestown debutant Hugo Borim (0-0) to the pro ranks in a 175lbs “Super Welterweight” matchup. Coll, a veteran of Cage Warriors and BAMMA, will return to the cage for the first time since 2015.

Team Torres’ Marcin Zembala (3-4) takes on Lakeland Jiu Jitsu head coach Tyrone Quinn (0-0) in a 165lbs “Super Lightweight” co-main event. Zembala will be aiming to rebound from his loss earlier this year under the Babilon MMA promotional banner, while the fight will mark Quinn’s professional debut.

Those two fights are the only professional matchups on the card, but there will be an incredible amount of amateur talent on offer, with 24 fights in total. You can check out the full fight card below, and all the action can be watched live on PPV.

Make sure to support local MMA, as you never know which amateur fighter could be the breakout star of the future!
