Molly McCann signs for UFC; debuts at UFC Liverpool

Reigning Cage Warriors Women’s Flyweight Champion “Meatball” Molly McCann has signed for the Ultimate Fighting Championship, and will make her first octagon appearance at UFC Fight Night 130, which takes place in her home town of Liverpool.

Nolan King first reported the news on Twitter, and McCann confirmed the news to SevereMMA today.

The Liverpudlian confirmed to SevereMMA that she has signed a three fight contract with the UFC, and will face Gillian Anderson in her promotional debut.

McCann (7-1) has not lost since 2015, and since then has strung together six straight wins, with wins over names such as Lacey Schuckman and Bryony Tyrell. The outspoken Next Generation MMA fighter captured the Cage Warriors strap in her previous performance, stopping the aforementioned Tyrell in the second round of their bout at Cage Warriors 90 in the Echo Arena.

Robertson (4-2) appeared on The Ultimate Fighter Season 26, but was eliminated by Barb Honchak. She was, however, still given a shot in the UFC, and submitted Emily Whitmire in her debut at the TUF 26 Finale. The most notable name on the Canadian’s record is Cynthia Calvillo, whom she lost a decision to on the Global Knockout show.

UFC Fight Night 130 takes place live from the Echo Arena in Liverpool, England, on Sunday, May 27. The card is set to be headlined by a pivotal welterweight match-up between hometown favorite Darren Till and Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson.
