Rhys McKee vs Kams Ekpo set for BAMMA 33

Multiple sources have confirmed to Severe MMA today that Northern Ireland’s Rhys McKee (5-1-1) will return to action next month and take on France’s Kams Ekpo (4-1) in a lightweight bout at BAMMA 33.

McKee extended his contract with BAMMA earlier this month and was due to fight at BAMMA 32 in Dublin before an injury to his opponent Josh Collins forced both fighters off the card.

Rhys McKee most recently fought to a majority draw with undefeated SBG Ireland product Richie Smullen back at BAMMA 30 in July 2017.

We spoke to McKee who told us he is ready to put 9-10 weeks of hard work on display against Ekpo

“I’ve been working hard now for last 9-10 weeks and a lot of fights have fallen through. I’ve been ready to go numerous times and now is the time to put my hard work on show”

“The victim will be in the shape of Ekpo. It’s not personal, it’s just my journey and who I fight doesn’t really matter to me.”

Ekpo is coming off the first loss of his career at WFS 6 when he dropped a decision to highly touted British prospect Daniel Crawford (10-1) in May 2016.

BAMMA 33 and Bellator 191 take place on Friday 15th December 2017 at the Metro Radio Arena in Newcastle, England, United Kingdom and will be another co-promoted event.
