McKee vs Smullen and Dalton vs Brennan set for BAMMA 30

[Press Release] A huge number one contender bout for the Lonsdale Lightweight title has been confirmed for the BAMMA 30: Philpott Vs.Walsh fight card. Former champion Rhys ‘Skeletor’ McKee will face SBG rising star Richie Smullen for the next shot at Tim Barnett. Also joining the lineup at the 3Arena, Decky ‘The Diamond’ Dalton will face Team Ryano’s Mick ‘The Basher’ Brennan.

The 3Arena prepares for action on 7th July as BAMMA 30: Philpott Vs. Walsh features the Lonsdale Lightweight contender showdown between Rhys ‘Skeletor’ McKee and Dublin’s own Richie Smullen. With Ireland’s two biggest Lightweight prospects facing off against each other for the right to face Champion Tim Barnett, this bout has huge implications for the Lightweight division.

Also, crowd favourite Decky ‘The Diamond’ Dalton returns for another all out war as he faces Team Ryano’s Mick ‘The Basher’ Brennan in what will be an action packed battle. These Featherweights go head to head as they jostle to get themselves higher up the pecking order and an eventual title shot in a packed division brimming with talent.

Rhys ‘Skeletor’ McKee (5-1) sets about reclaiming the Lonsdale title which he dropped to Barnett at BAMMA 28, which most observers considered a huge upset. The Next Generation N.I fighter beat a group of credible fighters en route to the title win last year. Richie Smullen (3-0) competing since 2013, Smullen made his debut at BAMMA 26: Saadeh vs Young, handing ‘The Carlow Kid’ Andrew Murphy his first pro loss. Another standout prospect from SBG, Smullen has never gone the distance in his pro career, winning all inside the distance via either submission and TKO. Coach John Kavanagh believes that Smullen is the next big star to emerge and a talent that everyone should keep a close eye on. Decky ‘The Diamond’ Dalton (6-3) The fan favourite fighting out of the Full Power Gym returns once more and after his battle with Jonathan Brookins at BAMMA 28: Parkes Vs. Redmond, will look to get back to winning ways and back on the path to ultimate Featherweight glory. Mick ‘The Basher’ Brennan (4-7) made his BAMMA debut at BAMMA 24: Kone Vs. Phillips against a surging Brain ‘The Pikeman’ Moore. Now making his second appearance, the training partner of Myles Price is looking to make it a long night for Dalton as he is coming to put his marker down on the Featherweight division and make a statement in front of his hometown crowd.
