Chael Sonnen vs Wanderlei Silva to headline Bellator 180 on PPV

APSports are tonight reporting that Bellator MMA are planning a pay-per-view event at Madison Square Garden in New York City on June 24 with Chael Sonnen and Wanderlei Silva as the main event.

The event, Bellator 180, will be only the second PPV card in the promotion’s history after Bellator 120 was universally deemed a box office flop as Quinton Jackson vs. King Mo failed to draw big numbers.

“We always said that when we come to New York, we’ll bring the biggest and the best fight card we’ve ever had in the history of this company,” Bellator president Scott Coker told APSports.

“We’re putting it together, and our roster is robust enough that we feel like it’s time to get into the pay-per-view business, so here we go.”

“I think (Bellator 180) will be the most exciting fight card in MMA this year so far,” Coker said. “I mean, who knows what’s going to happen before the end of the year, but I think this is going to be the biggest fight card put together by any company so far in the pay-per-view business, and we feel really good about it.”

Currently Chael Sonnen is 29-15-1 in his MMA career after losing to Tito Ortiz in his Bellator debut. While Silva, 35-12-1 (1), has not fought since beating Brian Stann over four years ago.
