UFC president Dana White has confirmed that Donald Cerrone will be the next challenger for Rafael Dos Anjos’ Lightweight title.

White told ESPN.com’s Brett Okamoto that Cerrone “looked insanely good” and added “”He kept his composure, put together combinations to the legs and head. He looked unbelievable. I will give you this, yes, Cowboy Cerrone is next in line for a title shot.”

The news comes as little surprise as the one man who may claim to be ahead of him in the pecking order, Khabib Nurmagomedov will be side lined for the foreseeable future. Former champion Anthony Pettis is also out of action with injury at the moment which leaves Cerrone as the obvious choice.

A fan favourite due to his exciting style and busy schedule, Cerrone extended his winning streak to eight on Saturday night with a finish of John Makdessi. This winning streak comes on the back of a decision defeat to Dos Anjos in August 2013 which he will be eager to avenge.

No date for the fight has been set as of now but we will keep you updated of any developments as they happen.
