Ross Pointon: Dana White says 2 wins and i’m back in the UFC

Cage Contender returns to the Kings Hall Complex in Belfast on October 20, 2012, with a stacked fight card featuring a battle between UFC veteran Ross “The Gladiator” Pointon and possibly Northern Ireland’s top Middleweight Conor Cooke in the 185lbs division.

Pointon is of course best known for his stint on The Ultimate Fighter Season 3, in which he lost to eventual winner Michael “The Count” Bisping. Along side Bisping his fight record is littered with top names like Clementi, Overeem and Amasinger.

In a interesting turn of events, during UFC on FUEL TV 5 in Nottingham, Ross Pointon met up with UFC President Dana White to discuss a potential return to the UFC, and Dana White said, “ If you win two straight  fights I will bring you back.” Pointon retorted, “ Are you for real?” In response, Dana White said “Hell Yeah just get those 2 wins” before the pair embraced in a bear hug.

“It was amazing seeing them all again and those word have added more inspiration to get the W in Belfast. I believe It’s my destiny to be a Cinderella man and I won’t rest until it happens” – Ross Pointon

UFC matchmaker Joe Silva backed this stance up telling Pointon that his never say die attitude was exactly what UFC fans wanted.

“This is great news for Ross, the ball seems to be firmly in his court now which is great for all the fans coming to the Kings Hall on October 20th. He has a point to prove which should make for some exciting action in Belfast. But he needs to be careful, Cooke has already shown at CC7 & 8 he has knockout power in both hands! I can wait, this event just keeps getting better!” – John Ferguson, CEO Cage Contender
