Mike Swick signs new 4 fight deal with the UFC

After a rocky 30-month stretch, Mike Swick (Pictured) finally has a few things to smile about regarding his mixed martial arts career. Just 23 days after putting DaMarques Johnson to sleep at “UFC on FOX 4,” Swick was rewarded with a four-fight contract extension to remain with the UFC.

“Last thing I did before leaving for Philippines… Signed new 4 fight deal w/ @UFC! Fight news coming soon!” Swick tweeted Monday. “Signing that contract was a beautiful thing after last couple years.”

Prior to putting Johnson to bed, which earned Swick an extra $50,000 for ‘Knockout of the Night,’ he was last seen posting his second consecutive loss in February of 2010. The former “The Ultimate Fighter 1″ contestant was subsequently misdiagnosed with a stomach ailment and has been riding the pine ever since.

The 33-year-old was planning to return at “UFC Fight for the Troops 2” in January 2011, but opponent David Mitchell had to withdraw due to an injury. Swick then tore his knee and had to pull out of his UFC 134 bout against Erick Silva.
