Cathal Pendred “I deserve to be the champion.. Grimaud’s record is fake!”

Irishman Cathal Pendred notched up an impressive victory over tough UFC and PRIDE veteran David Bielkheden earlier this month in The Helix, Dublin at Cage Warriors 47.

“The Punisher” Pendred controlled most of the fight for the first 2 rounds, however in the third round, Bielkheden rocked Cathal and had him in trouble but the Irishman exploded up to his feet as the home town fans sang “You’ll never beat the Irish”.

The SBG man secured another takedown late in the third and picked up an impressive unanimous decision, both out wrestling and out striking the seasoned veteran of 28 fights.

Now he is looking towards Cage Warriors gold, and in his way is 15-5 Frenchman Gael Grimaud.

“I think I deserve to be the champion more than Gael Grimaud does, I have more fights and wins with Cage Warriors.” said Pendred

24 year old Pendred is currently 10-2-1 in his professional career. His first loss coming in only in his second fight. Since then “The Punisher” has only lost once, a fight he took on short notice and only a week after his 3 round decision victory over Jamie Rogers at Cage Warriors 39 in 2010.

“My last fight was against a more dangerous fighter than the one he fought for his first title defense, his record is fake!”

“I say fake because more than half of his fights have taken place in France where MMA is illegal. So they fight kickboxing with grappling. There’s no strikes on the ground.”

“I’ve had fights like that and they were classed as amateur, they’re not counted on my professional record.”

“I’m not trying to disrespect Gael, I’m just highlighting the truth; I’m more deserving of that belt than he is and his record consists of grappling wins not pro MMA wins.”
