Robinson vs Wain II & Lister vs Moore set for Cage Contender XIII

Back at CCXI, 3500 Irish fight fans crammed into the sold out Kings Hall Complex to watch a card that was headlined by 2 UFC heavyweights, Neil “Old Skool” Wain (10-3-0) and the hero of Irish MMA Colin “Big C” Robinson (10-10-0) fighting for the Cage Contender Heavyweight Title.

Wain edged the first two rounds to lead going into the last, Robinson was spurred on by his thousands of home town supporters to produce a real rocky style last round that left the whole crowd on their feet screaming “Knees, Knees” as he tried to KO the seeming indestructible Wain. There was at least one judge who called it a 10-8 round.

Now the rematch is on as co main event at CCXIII. Robinson is looking to restore local pride while Wain will be taking no backward steps in the quest to hold on to his coveted strap.

The co main event has raised just a few eyebrows internationally too. Current ADCC champion and former King of the Cage world champion Dean “The Boogeyman” Lister (11-7-0) makes his return to MMA in an anticipated match up with one of the best known names in the world of Irish MMA Rodney Moore (9-7-0). Lister has a pedigree that many domestic events could only dream of having on their card, having only fought on UFC, Pride and King of the Cage, he has scalps to his name like Jeremy Horn and Alessio Sakara. This will not faze Rodney Moore, who is known for being as tough as Country Antrim granite with all the cardio of the energizer bunny!

Looking down further down the under card it reads like a who’s who of Irish MMA royalty. This looks like an event not to be missed

Cage Contender fans have become used to massive fight cards at real value for money ticket prices and this card is no different.

“We said that we would not increase the price of a standard CC ticket throughout Season 3 and we are sticking to that. This card is a must see for any fight fan in Ireland, not just MMA fans but any fight fan. There are world class fighters in the cage doing what they do best… Fighting! Don’t miss them, they are on your own doorstep.

It’s reaching fever pitch in Belfast at the minute, phones are busy with the public looking for tickets, fighters are ringing wanting more tickets, Newspapers, TV, Radio and all other types of media are running stories on it. Even with the hype Cage Contender usually attracts this is something special” – John Ferguson, Promoter
