Breaking: Adam Darby vs Thorsten Jakobs added to CW 163

Team Ryano’s Adam Darby (2-1) is set for a short-notice return to Cage Warriors action this Saturday at CW 163. Per sources, Darby has been added to the London card and will face German fighter Thorsten Jakobs (3-1) in a welterweight contest.

Darby has spent the past 3 months living and training out in San Diego, California, as part of Graham Boylan’s MMA Fight Academy program. The 24-year-old Dubliner scored a first-round triangle choke submission in front of a 3Arena crowd in April, and “The Plank” will be looking to close 2023 out with a bang.

Jakobs enters the contest with a 3-1 record. The German returns to the cage for the first time in 2 years, his last outing a 1st-round KO loss at Integra FC in November 2021. However, Jakobs boasts a 100% finishing record across his amateur and professional wins, notching 7 stoppages in total.

With 10 out of 12 of Darby’s wins in MMA coming via way of stoppage, this matchup is set to be a banger on paper.

Darby joins compatriot Sinéadh Ní Nualláin on the card. The Irishwoman is set to make her professional debut up a weight class vs Awa Sow in a bantamweight affair.

Cage Warriors 163 takes place this Saturday 11th November, live from London’s Indigo at The O2, and fans can watch it on UFC Fight Pass.
