BREAKING: Paul Redmond vs Georgi Karakhanyan Added to Bellator Dublin

Earlier today, Severe MMA reported that Paul Redmond (15-7) was in search of a new opponent, after his originally-scheduled bout versus Ryan Scope was pulled from the upcoming Bellator Dublin card, due to an undisclosed injury that forced Scope to withdraw from the lightweight contest.

Speaking to Severe MMA, “Redser” insisted that despite the cancellation of the Scope fight, he intended to put on a show for his hometown Irish crowd.

“I’ll be on the card. There’s plenty of time to get re-matched.”

Well, it didn’t take long for another Bellator fighter to step up and book his place in the 3 Arena on Sunday 22nd February! Seán Sheehan broke the news on Twitter earlier this evening after confirming with a Bellator official that Georgi Karakhanyan (28-10-1) will now face the Team Ryano veteran in a prelim bout.

Karakhanyan, a former WSOF champion, usually competes at featherweight (145lbs), but will make his 155lbs debut when he locks horns with hometown-favourite Redmond. “Insane” will be looking to snap a two-fight skid, including an 8-second KO at the hands of rising star, AJ McKee. Despite recent form, Karakhanyan—a 39-fight veteran—is easily the most experience fighter Paul Redmond has faced to date in his professional career, and this one is likely to be a crowd pleaser!
