Jon Jones’ UFC 214 ‘B’ Sample Returns Positive

ESPN tonight are reporting that Jon Jones’ ‘B’ sample from a drug test that he underwent before his UFC 214 title fight with Daniel Cormier has also tested positive for the banned substance Turinabol.

Jones had been flagged by USADA for the banned substance on the 22nd of August. According to MMAFighting.com, Jones will now undergo an adjudication process with both the UFC and USADA.

As the fight took place in California, Jones will also be required to sit in front of a disciplinary panel with the California State Athletic Commission. That is currently scheduled to take place on the 17th of October but is subject to change.

This won’t be the first time that Jones has had to sit in front of an adjudication panel. Jones tested positive prior to his main event fight at UFC 200. He pleaded a case of ignorance, allegedly taking contaminated ‘sex pills’ and was given a one year ban by USADA.

Jones reclaimed the light heavyweight championship at UFC 214 via second round KO over Daniel Cormier.

According to Dana White, prior to the news of his failed test in late August, the UFC had been looking to book a superfight for Jones with current UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic for late 2017.

If found guilty after his arbitration process, Jones could be set for as much as a four year ban from the sport.
