[Press Release] Welsh favourites Lewis “The Foot” Long (12-3 MMA | 3-2 CWFC) and Jack “Tank” Shore (1-0 MMA | 0-0 CWFC) will both face foreign opposition when Cage Warriors returns to the Newport Centre in Wales on June 4th.

The top 10 UK ranked welterweight Lew Long will look to claim his sixth straight win when he faces Swede Andreas “Real Steel” Ståhl (9-2 MMA | 0-0 CWFC). While the 2015 IMMAF Lightweight European Open champion Jack Shore faces the German based Luta Livre fighter Eddi “Saiyajin” Pobivanez (3-1 MMA | 0-0 CWFC) in a 145 lbs contest. Both fights will take place on the main card of Cage Warriors 76 which will be shown live on UFC Fight Pass as well as the CWFC’s other broadcasting partners.

Lew Long returns to Cage Warriors with momentum on his side following five successive wins inside the distance which saw him defeat Steve Dinsdale (by TKO) and Matt Inman (via rear-naked choke) in his last two CWFC outings in 2014. During CWFC’s 18 month absence, Long proved he can beat the best UK talent with victories over Tommy Quinn and Lee Caers respectively, before scoring an impressive 46 second submission win over the Japanese DEEP veteran Yoshiyuki Katahira at Abu Dhabi Warriors in the UAE.

Hailing from Umeå in northern Sweden; Andreas Ståhl built up a perfect 9-0 record in a four year spell between 2009-13 with notable wins against “Abus” Magomedov via rear-naked choke, along with decision wins against the now UFC fighter Damir Hadzovic and Domingos Mestre on the European circuit.

A mix of injuries and other issues stalled Ståhl’s momentum and two defeats followed against Gilbert Burns and Santiago Ponzinibbio both inside the UFC. Ståhl is looking to reignite his career on the European circuit as he makes his CWFC debut against the popular Welshman who hopes a win over Ståhl will provide a stepping-stone to bigger opportunities later this year.

Joining Long on the main card is his compatriot Jack Shore, who scored a first round submission victory in his professional debut at Pain Pit MMA earlier this year. As an amateur, Shore fought on CWFC 72 nearly two years ago scoring a decision win.

However, despite his lack of name recognition on the UK circuit, Eddi Pobivanez will present a stern test for the Welsh prodigy with three wins to his name and his only pro loss being against the vastly experienced thirteen fight pro Stefan Hoss. With a lack of domestic opposition wanting to face the young Welshman; Pobivanez will go into the June 4th clash with the pressure off, as he looks to add to his 2016 tally, which saw him, land a first round submission early last month.
