Irishman Paul Redmond cut from the UFC roster

There was bad news for Irish MMA fans today as news broke that Dublin featherweight Paul Redmond has been cut from the UFC roster.

Training out of Team Ryano in the capital, Redmond debuted on short notice in January of this year in a losing effort to top prospect Mirsad Bektic after attempting to cut down to 145 lbs for the first time in his career.

His second UFC fight, against Robert Whiteford in Scotland in July, also ended in defeat as “Redser” was knocked out after an impressive start to the fight.

Unfortunately that was the last fight in the current UFC run for the former Cage Warriors stand-out whose planned return to lightweight will now have to happen on the local circuit.
