Irishman Conor McGregor makes history at Cage Warriors 51

Last night, in a packed Helix arena, featherweight champion Conor McGregor fought for the lightweight strap against 21-3 Ivan Buchinger at Cage Warriors 51 in Dublin, Ireland.

McGregor, with a vocal home crowd behind him, dominated the bout from the first second until the last, landing a variety of kicks on Buchinger, before reverted to his boxing and landing a lovely counter left hand to put Buchinger out cold.

McGregor is now the first ever Cage Warriors multi-weight champion, Dan Henderson had held too belts in Pride but big names such as Michael Bisping and Dan Hardy only managed the one Cage Warriors strap.

It was clear to us and everyone in attendance that Conor McGregor is on another level, and deserves a shot in the UFC.

UFC commentator Joe Rogan tweeted moments ago, congratulating McGregor on his performance and stated that he hopes to see McGregor in the UFC

“@TheNotoriousMMA I just caught your fight, Conor. Congratulations, you looked sensational! Hope to see you in the UFC someday. Best of luck!” – Joe Rogan
